Prior to becoming the Principal of Sacred Heart, Shelly was the Assistant Principal and Preschool Director at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic School in Glendale. Before that, she was a teacher at two other schools in the Diocese of Phoenix for a total of twenty years. Shelly has her undergraduate degree from Arizona State University, where she majored in Special Education. She also achieved two Masters of Education degrees from Northern Arizona University, one in Curriculum and Instruction and the other in Educational Leadership. Shelly also has a Doctorate in Early Childhood Education from Walden University.
